For most adult cases — mild to moderate crowding or spacing — ClearCorrect and traditional braces both work. ClearCorrect is more discreet and convenient; braces are more predictable for complex cases. Here’s how to choose.
The quick comparison
- Visibility: ClearCorrect is nearly invisible. Modern ceramic braces are tooth-colored but still visible up close. Metal braces are obviously visible.
- Comfort: ClearCorrect is smooth plastic — no cuts on cheeks. Braces have brackets and wires that occasionally cause irritation.
- Removability: ClearCorrect comes out for meals and brushing. Braces are fixed.
- Treatment time: Roughly comparable for similar cases — 12–18 months for typical adult treatment with either.
- Compliance required: ClearCorrect requires you to wear them 22 hours a day. Braces work whether you forget about them or not.
- Complex cases: Braces handle severe crowding, severe rotation, and complex bite issues better.
- Cost: Comparable at our practice — both start at $5,299 full treatmentnth, total $3,000–$5,000.
When ClearCorrect is the right call
- You have mild to moderate crowding, spacing, or rotation.
- You’re an adult or older teen with good discipline (you’ll wear them 22 hours/day).
- Visibility matters — you’re a public-facing professional, public speaker, or self-conscious about appearance.
- You want to keep eating and brushing normally.
- You play a contact sport or wind/brass instrument where braces would interfere.
When traditional braces are better
- You have severe crowding, severe rotation, or complex skeletal bite issues.
- You’re a younger teen or pre-teen still in active growth.
- You know you wouldn’t wear aligners 22 hours a day consistently.
- Cost-conscious AND your insurance covers traditional braces but not ClearCorrect.
What about ClearCorrect or other clear-aligner brands?
ClearCorrect is a US-based clear-aligner system functionally equivalent to ClearCorrect for most mild-to-moderate cases. It often costs slightly less. We offer both — we’ll recommend whichever fits your case best.
What we DON’T recommend: direct-to-consumer mail-order aligners (SmileDirectClub, Byte, etc.). These skip the supervised treatment plan, don’t catch problems mid-treatment, and have higher complication rates. The savings aren’t worth the risk.
Cost at our practice
Both ClearCorrect and traditional braces start at $5,299 full treatmentnth with monthly payment plans. Total treatment cost $3,000–$5,000 depending on case complexity. CareCredit and Sunbit financing available.
The retainer truth
Whichever you choose, you’ll wear retainers nightly for life. Teeth move slowly throughout your life regardless of orthodontic history; without retainers, they gradually drift back. This is true for any orthodontic treatment — it’s the price of straight teeth.
